Spanish Plume

A lull in the heat today. After a seemingly endless run of 35 degree days,  today is a pleasant 28C with lower humidity before the heat builds again as hot air moves up from North Africa and Spain -  a Spanish 'plume', which'll likely give us a 40 degree day by the end of the week!

Ah to be near cooling water, like the 'canal' at les Jardins de Sardy, near Castillon-la-Bataille at the western edge of the Dordogne.

    2. I am revelling in those arum lilies spotlit before a long formal pond - and blooming thru the window in my garden, or in drifts and swathes in the damp hollows of the fields, even sold in illegally harvested bunches by street hawkers.

  3. Yes, being near the water is a pleasant way to spend a hot day. I appreciate the gardens here on the shores of Lake Michigan when the temperature goes up. This past week was hot, like you are experiencing and being here was nice! The gardens are doing well, especially the day lilies in this cooler climate. I recently posted (July 22st) some photos of what it was like here exactly 6 months ago. You might find the pictures of the snow "refreshing" if it continues to be hot your way. Jack

    1. Jack the snow pictures look wonderful. You have a 'proper' winter over there. Do you get lake effect snow. I've read about the huge amounts of snow dumped around the lakes.

    1. It's good that you got to visit. It's been a few years since I was last there, I think I'll go back next year, around early June as it looks good in early Summer.

  7. The scene in the photo is refreshing, but 40 in your forecast is way, way too hot! Take care in the heat. Stay cool.

  9. I can see the heat shimmering in that photo Rob. What a beautiful garden. The heat was hard to cope with when we were on holiday but it must be even harder when you have got to get on with everyday living!

  10. Hi Anna. Everyday living is the swimming pool at the moment - best place to be.
