Support de Plantes

Picked up a trio of plant supports at the really very good annual antique fair in Le Bugue last Sunday.

They're probably not exactly ancient, but the terracotta pots that came with them are. Originally for catching pine resin, quite how I don't know, they're at least a couple hundred years old.

I've put them up against the riverside of Le Tournesol and La Forge and planted them with Sempervivums - dead easy, much better a laissez faire attitude to anything garden in August.

  2. Most stylish Rob and they look as if they have been there forever. The sempervivums
were an inspired choice of planting :)

    1. Anna thanks. The sempervivums are certainly something I don't need to water twice a day!

  3. Why does/did one collect pine resin?

    1. James, so I googled that question - glue, paint, lamp fuel... there's a world of 'resin' out there.

    1. They'll be just fine. The more rusted and weather beaten the better.
