Grey, Green, Chartreuse

Unseasonably cool at the moment. Very green however.

  1. Lovely garden even in the gloom. Here in the Haute-Loire it's also a very cold wet May! Probably about 4 weeks behind in the garden.

I reckon this May will enter the record books. Its been way below par everywhere.

  2. Looks great! What variety of allium is in that first photo? I like the height as well as the size of the sphere.

    1. Thanks. It's allium 'purple sensation'. I've got nectaroscordum siculum growing over the other side.

  6. Hi Rob! We just returned from South France. I was admiring French gardens - how natural and almost effortless they look. The same about your garden. Very casual and very exciting, at the same time.

    1. Hi Tatyana, thanks. I hope you had a good trip. The weather's been unusual however, France and most of west europe is experiencing the coolest spring for a long time.

  8. It may well be grey. green and chartreuse Rob but it looks great. Your first photo should be gracing the cover of 'Gardens Ilustrated'. We've had a relatively warm couple of days but with a bank holiday tomorrow it looks as if the weather will be reverting to type :)

    1. Thanks Anna, blame the jet stream, it's unusually far south, looping round southern Spain!

  9. So many purple alliums, they look great! I especially like the third and fourth shots. Beautiful and very Mediterranean.

    1. Thanks Sweetbay. I think the gravel gives it a mediterranean feel. The green santolina seems to relish growing in just sand and gravel.
