  2. Hi Rob! 1000/kg? Is it right?
And what are you suppose to drink with truffles?

  3. It's me, I forgot to switch to my other account. So, what about drinking? Red, white? Vodka?

  4. Never had a truffle but looks like a good time was had by all.

  5. Best dish I ever ate was in Spoletto, north of Rome. Spagetti with Truffle Sauce. Just a simple cafe and a cheap dish. (11,000.00 Lire - which would suggest it was not really truffle)
But it was good, 1997 and I can remember every taste of every mouthful, even now. Kerry

  6. Hi Diane, I reckon it's a good idea to invest in a bottle of decent truffle oil and add a few drops at the last minute to a pasta sauce (not tomato based), you'll get the taste and can decide.

Tatyana, they're anywhere between 800 and 1000 a kilo. Although in fairness a kilo is rather a lot.
Drink what you want. Everybody else did. There were people opening bottles of wine at 10.30 in the morning. hic. Bit early. Actually, come to think about it, a shot of super chilled vodka is probably a dream combination. I may try it!

Hi Hermes, a good time was indeed had by all. It's a weekend event, the hotels were doing a good trade.

Kerry, I reckon that's the best way to use a truffle. Grated truffle, olive oil, parmesan all just warmed through with the heat of the pasta.
Sounds like the cafe you were in was a real 'find'. Maybe the owner searched out his own truffles?

  7. 60 Minutes had a piece last week about truffles...hunting, sorting, selling, and the importation of faux truffles from China. Very interesting. Oh and we're coming to La Roque this summer. Very excited.

    1. Ah the beautiful La Roque Gageac, I drove past there this morning, we had a frost and the sun shone brightly on the rock.

Pass by when you're over, we are not far.

  9. Love truffles! sigh. If only I could get to France for the fête!

Since I can't buy/afford truffle here - I recently bought fleur de sel w/truffle (imported from France), but I think I prefer truffle oil (from Italy) as I like a stronger flavor.

  10. I have no doubt that I would enjoy and do well at the Truffle "party". My kind of day! Next year you might want to invite all of us "followers" to join you! Stay well. Jack

    1. Everyone is welcome Jack! It's quite an experience, the scent of truffles hangs in the air for some distance.
